Eternal Idol is a newly formed band by well-known members of the Italian metal scene. They combine both melodic male & female vocals and that’s a characteristic which gives more personality to their music. The band’s guitarist, keyboardist, songwriter & producer Nick Savio (Hollow Haze) told Grande Rock some very interesting things about the new band and their future plans…
Hi Nick… I’m glad to have you on Grande Rock. Do tell us… how did the idea to form Eternal Idol occur and how did you come up with the band’s name in the first place?
N: Hi Thanos, the band is an evolution of Hollow Haze…. Fabio was the lead singer on the album “Countdown to Revenge”, while Giorgia replace him on 2015. After Fabio and Frontiers were in touch the idea to start a new band with a new name came out… I had the idea to use Eternal Idol because I like the Black Sabbath album and Camillo too.
Can we say that Eternal Idol started out as a music project but after some certain reasons you became an “actual” band? Which were those reasons if they occurred?
N: Frontiers records produce a lot of projects but Eternal Idol is a real band since the beginning. The fact all the band members are involved in other bands doesn’t mean Eternal Idol is a project. We are currently working on the next album…
I know that all the metal fans, and especially the Rhapsody Of Fire ones, were shocked by Fabio’s decision to leave the band and focus on Eternal Idol. Have you talked it over with Fabio? Can you tell us, which were the reasons that led him to that decision?
N: I’m sorry but I don’t know exactly what happened with Fabio and Rhapsody but I can tell you Fabio is focused on Eternal Idol now.
And how did the cooperation with vocalist Giorgia Colleluori (Hollow Haze), drummer Camillo Colleluori (Hollow Haze) and bassist Andrea Buratto (Secret Sphere, Hell in the Club) come to be? Did it play a major role that you are on the same band (hollow Haze) with both Giorgia & Camillo and you know them really well?
N: Of course, Camillo and Giorgia were involved since the beginning after we decide to stop with Hollow Haze. Andrea was an old friend and so he was the right choice.
Which is the music identity that you and the other guys wanna give to Eternal Idol? How easy or not is it when there are both female & male vocals in the band?
N: We are class symphonic metal. The idea to combine 2 melodic singers was great. Hearing a male voice screaming in bands with double vocals bores me…
What is “The Unrevealed Secret”? And it is “revealed” now with your debut or what?
N: As I’ve already told, we are working on the next chapter. The secret will be revealed in future albums.

The album was produced by you (Nick Savio) and mixed by Simone Mularoni (DGM, Sunstorm). Would you change any last minute things or are you totally satisfied with the final outcome?
N: I’m satisfied at 98%… I would like change very little things, which are irrelevant.
You’re giving a release party at Rock Town in Italy on Jan 21st 2017. Other than that? Do you plan to give any other live shows anytime soon?
N: Many shows are scheduled between January and April, including 4 gigs in Spain.
How did your cooperation with Frontiers Music happen? Did it occur before or after concluding the album?
N: Before the album Fabio was in touch with Frontiers. We sent 3 new songs and after a few days we got the deal.
What are your expectations from “The Unrevealed Secret” and what do you wish to achieve with Eternal Idol in the near future?
N: I love music, so all I need is playing what I like. The only thing I hope is to play live to support the album.
By the way, what is the news about your other band Hollow Haze? Do you have the time to deal with both bands now or not?
N: Actually no, Hollow Haze is in stand by.

N: I think the music industry is changed because the new generations want music without paying and without to respect the artist job. When I need something I can buy it online or into a shop but for the music this simple concept doesn’t work.

N: To me as I told you before is a curse for many reasons; in some cases, it’ s a gift.

N: My wife can sell my albums but not my guitars…
