Ølten will release their new album “Ambiance” on November 2nd, 2018.
Today the presale kicks off and the band reveal the cover artwork and an album teaser.
The band comments on the cover: “When we announced the name of the album, "Ambiance", to our graphic designer he immediately imagined a waiting room at a doctor's office. So we decided to turn this idea into reality and create Ølten's version of a waiting room”.

Ølten’s new album is called “Ambiance”. Alright. If anything, it’s a dense ambiance, and there’s a palpable presence of a sonic threat - An untamable beast that doesn’t need to flex its muscles to display agility.
The recording took place at the Studio Mécanique in la Chaux-de-Fonds with Julien Fehlmann. The album was tracked live with all three musicians in the same room.
Ølten’s music is a paradox in itself - Perfectly well adjusted like a mechanism, but loose in its shape. There’s walls of noise, there’s melodies that reinvent themselves over the course of a track, there’s syncopes, pulsations, the album is ascending all the way up to Golgotha. There’s mass.
The band explains: “We’ve been told we’re reinventing the machines of deconstruction”. So there’s that. But further on, this deconstruction serves as the prelude to new assembling: Ølten is a closely intertwined gear, ever on the move, the limitless way the guitar, the bass and the drums construct layer upon layer of coherent new forms, continuously adding potential and force.
And it’s exactly there, when everything is intertwined to the maximum, that the trio manufactures its own miracles - Somewhere close to auditory hallucinations through dense sounds. It’s powerful, massive, it’s skillful, complex, and prolific.
