Model Spotlight of the Month
Introduce yourself…
J: Hello I’m Joanne; I’m a model and a huge metal fan. Also an introvert.
How did you get “that” name and what do you have in common if anything with the British middle aged actress?
J: Who is she and why does she have my name?!
When and how did you decide to deal with modeling and how did music and acting came about?
J: I’ve been in bands as a singer since I was a teen. Music has always been a cradle, a form of inspiration and has never ceased to open new horizons to me. Doing promo photo-shoots was something I always enjoyed very much and that led to meeting new photographers who gave me the opportunity to further explore the world of alt modeling. Singing requires a fair amount of acting in order to deliver a good stage presence, so when my friend Voreas gave me the chance to participate in Aherusia’s first theatrical production, “Prometheus”. I was very happy to contribute to a heavy metal take on the twisted retelling of an ancient Greek tragedy. It was something that really suited my personal taste and style and I think that for its budget and preparation time, it came out pretty well.
You’ve been active in the alternative/goth/fashion/club scene for quite a bit. What do you think defines these “scenes” – is it the music – is it the fashion – is it art as a manifestation of one’s own experiences?
J: The scene is always changing as time passes. Following Goth’s demise, Fetish has claimed the scene’s throne the past few years. Right now, for me, the alternative is primarily defined by fashion and not music, which is a lot different from the previous decades. I believe this is due to Social Media being a largely visual domain – hence image becomes very important – slowly aural forms also become significant, but video is not “there” yet. Like it happened before, this will certainly change in the future. And to answer the question, I think all of the above play a part in forming a movement. Nothing is either one or the other.
What defines a pioneer, from a wannabe?
J: Who cares. Some make it, some get stuck trying to make it. I suppose making it, provides acknowledgment by your peers, or envy, or both.
What do you say to detractors?
J: Even bothering about me – puts food on my table. Hail Eris (goddess of envy)…
Did you ever wish you were someone else, or really felt jealous of someone – elaborate.
J: Everyone does at some point. Either as role play, being inspired or mildly jealous of somebody else’s traits. But I try to focus on growing and improving myself as I am and I am thankful that I am young and able to still mold myself into a better person.
What defines a sexy woman according to you?
J: King Diamond merch!
What’s the sexiest part on you?
J: I don’t know. I think about other people’s sexiest parts most of the time.
What’s your erotic fetish?
J: It’s fetishes! Plural.
What’s the weirdest photo shooting you’ve ever done so far?
J: Shooting half naked in an abandoned Sanatorium on top of a mountain in -2°C, while being interrupted by voyeur deer.
What’s the nicest compliment you’ve ever gotten?
J: “I also listen to King Diamond”…
Which one of the Seven Deadly Sins you consider yourself to be?
J: I choose one every month and I wear it like a furry coat.
What is the best sex advice you’ve ever given or gotten?
J: Ejaculate to GG Allin, or Kind Diamond.
If you could only ever have sex with one Rock Star, who would you choose?
J: Already happened. Sorry, King...
What’s the best city/country you’ve ever been to and why?
J: Amsterdam. Took part in a show for “Unleashed'” with my best friend Domina Lola. One of the best experiences of my life.
What do you do most when you are bored?
J: Give interviews!
What’s your Guilty Pleasure?
J: King Diamond.
If you could eat lunch with one famous person, who would it be?
J: I think it should be obvious by now...
