Rock n’ Roll is all about freedom…

GR logoHow many times have I written that we’re living in really strange times? I think a lot! Believe it or not things are getting stranger day by day and this is something that has caused anxiety and fear to us all. Then again we cannot expect anything from the politicians, cuz their role on that odd scenario is dark and complex. After all, when did the politicians offer a fair solution to the people… hence, we cannot wait from “wealthy corrupted” beings to care now.

One of our last sanctuaries is music and the musicians that deal with it, especially the well-known ones. There have been many voices heard whether to do the vax or avoid it, but I need to say that this should not be a musician’s role. Musicians are there to perform their music and entertain people. Of course they do have their own opinions (like all others do), but they should think twice before they start influencing people to do this or that.

For instance, Bruce Dickinson did say the other day that it is people’s choice whether to get the vax or not and at the same time he said that he finds it incredible that some people are still resistant. Well, let’s read behind his words. At first he tries to be kind and talk about people’s rights and choices and at the same time he undervalues those who do not share the same opinion as his. And that’s a sneaky way to pass his point of view. In this way he will definitely affect his fans to follow his words and that ain’t a right thing to do especially in that way.

I do prefer the frank way that Dave Mustaine approached things and expressed his mind. Whether you applaud his opinion or not, at least he’s totally honest to himself and the metal community. He was totally right when he said that this thing is going into tyranny. Just think how many people are suffering every day due to some disturbed minds that are making choices instead of them. No one gets to speak out for themselves anymore, cuz soon enough it will be illegal to do so. Orwell’s “Thought Police” is getting closer than ever…

After all rock and metal music (along with punk, gothic etc.) are meant to go against any irrational but politically correct measures, so as to call the community to stand up and fight back. This is what this kind of music is all about…it is about freedom on all levels. Where’s is that “freedom” when you “actually order your followers to vote this one or do the vax or anything else”? Do the famous people and musicians feel they actually own those sheep and they can order them to do whatever they want?! Is that against the values or rock & metal music or not? If it’s against the rules then why do they break the rules and how should they be called for doing so, huh?

I do believe that Alice Cooper hit the spot when he said: “When musicians are telling people who to vote for, I think that’s an abuse of power. You’re telling your fans not to think for themselves, but to think like you. Rock n’ Roll is all about freedom and that’s not freedom!”… honestly, I couldn’t have found a better way to describe the whole situation and how the words from powerful people are making people separate in camps and fight each other for nothing.

PS1: Unfortunately, ZZ Top’s bassist (and vocalist on some songs) Dusty Hill (Joe Michael “Dusty” Hill) passed away at the age of 72 in late July 2021. R.I.P Dusty – thx for the music…

PS2: Also, the great vocalist Eric Wagner passed away in late August, 2021, at the age of 62. Eric was mostly famous for fronting the remarkable doom metal band Trouble. Eric formed The Skull in 2021 as well. R.I.P Eric – thx for the music…

PS3: It’s also sad to say that The Rolling Stones’ drummer Charlie Watts passed away in late August, 2021, at the age of 80. Of course all the rockers around the world know who Charlie was and what he offered to Rock & roll music all these years… R.I.P Charlie – thx for the music…
