Feed On Your Misery

This Norwegian prog metal band has been going since 1995 so they do know what to do and what they want to achieve. Their new fifth studio album has gathered all the elements of their previous works and blended them nicely along with their influences from acts like: Dream Theater, Symphony X, Nevermore, Shadow Gallery, Circus Maximus, In Flames and so forth.
Apart from the technical side, the guys they have added various strong melodies to all of their songs. At times they approach prog power metal more straightforwardly but without leaving the hooks aside. That’s what strikes you first when you play this album. The sound is quite tight & very heavy. A very good job has been done on the song arrangements as well.
I would prefer this album to have been a bit shorter. I think that 62 minutes are way too many for an album so as to be rather cohesive in the long run. That thing cannot annul the overall quality of the CD. I also favor the songs that are around 5-6 minutes more. They have come up with some truly appealing melodies so it would be a good idea to be less “prog” and more up-front… by approaching the melodic metal side further. In any case, “Feed On Your Misery” is a fairly enjoyable melodic prog/power metal album…
