Joe Satriani to release “Shockwave Supernova” on July 24th 2015

Legendary guitarist, Joe Satriani, announces plans to release his 15th solo studio album, “Shockwave Supernova”, on July 24th 2015, making him one of the first to utilise the new “Friday, Global Release Day” for music.

It would be easy to call “Shockwave Supernova” a "masterpiece" or "the last word on guitar" from the world’s most commercially successful solo guitar performer. Satch, however, sees it much more personally. He has consistently advanced the artistry of the instrument; an effort he dedicated himself to on 18th September, 1970, the day his idol Jimi Hendrix died.

Flying Colors

Hi Dave… “Second Nature” is a great successor to your homonymous debut album. You have taken things several steps further… but after all isn’t that the very essence of progressive music?

D: Absolutely! I think all musicians should strive to continue growing; otherwise you end up playing the same things over and over. Having down the first studio record, and with some touring and a live record thrown in, the band was more comfortable doing “Second Nature”.

Flying Colors - Second Nature

Musical investment. This is what the second album of Flying Colors could be understood as. Some decades later this album could well be a cornerstone to remember the prog rock revival of the mid 2010’s. This is not because it reinvents the wheel, neither because it turns our world upside down, rather because it manages to embody all the best elements of this music, boil them on a pot of 70s nostalgy and serve them to the modern reality.

A.C.T

Hi Ola. Welcome back to music industry dude. “Circus Pandemonium” is a delightful album indeed! Kudos!

O: Yeah, thanks! We are extremely proud it!

So, tell us… why did you take such a long break after the astonishing “Silence” in 2006? One would believe that “Silence” could have been the ticket for your success. Instead you vanished for several years. What happened?

A.C.T - Circus Pandemonium

Just when I gave up hope on A.C.T, they appeared as weirdly & suddenly as they had disappeared. I thought that “Silence” (read the review here), would have been the band’s passport to be among the top progressive, theatrical, operatic rock/metal acts of our time… but obviously something went wrong and we lost track of them for about 8 years.
