On the eve of releasing another Ammunition album – this time dropping his name from the band name, I suppose to show that it has become a “true” band effort, the former Wig Wam frontman has come forth with another solo effort and once more the results are sublime.
 

This is the self-titled debut solo album by Bruce Soord, the front man, producer & songwriter behind The Pineapple Thief. Bruce has written, played, recorded & produced all the tracks here. Some additional guitars are played by Darran Charles (Godsticks).
 

One of the bands that I hardly ever “got” or got into, was Enuff Z’Nuff. These guys did form in the mid-80s but didn’t come into some prominence until later in the game, very much later, when they signed to Atlantic and that was a time when “hair metal” was starting to slowly go into a state of disarray. The fact that a band like them, would get signed, was “the writing on the wall” that things were shifting away from the musical side of things and towards the “image”.
 

Here’s a paradox. If Anette had never joined Nightwish – a cooperation that didn’t work for the band’s own benefit, only for Annette’s – probably she would never have become so popular in the rock/metal community and she wouldn’t have signed in a major label to release her debut solo work. I remember Anette in Alyson Avenue back in the day and not to be misunderstood, I always thought that she was a talented singer. She did experience too much in a small time period that some worked for her own advantage and some didn’t.
 

I’ve always kept an eye on this inimitable band from Poland, which, auspiciously, released its 3rd album almost 3 years after “Soul’s Inner Pendulum”. This time the band has a new singer, Marcin Jajkiewicz, who joined them in 2011. He has a suave & colorful voice and I think that it was a good choice in the main.
