Epica and Apocalyptica announce Fall & Winter 2020 European co-headlining Tour

This fall Dutch Symphonic titans Epica and Finnish Cello masters Apocalyptica will join forces for the “Epic Apocalypse Tour”.

The tour comes in support of Epica’s upcoming album, which will be released later this year. Support on all dates will be provided by Helsinki prog metallers Wheel.

Apocalyptica

Hi Eicca. How did you come up with the name Apocalyptica initially?

E: Well, when we started out, we didn’t think we’ll last long, we thought we’d do a couple of gigs, maybe sell a thousand albums and quietly go away, so we didn’t really have a name. It was the record label guy that suggested it, after we said, we wanted something like Metallica – ICA… that sounded like big and bold. Apocalypse seemed like a good idea.

Apocalyptica to release new studio album “Cell-0” on January 10th 2020

Bristling with an epically baroque life and energy, “Cell-0”, the ninth studio album by Finland’s multi-Platinum cello-rockers Apocalyptica, will be released on January 10th, 2020, via Silver Lining Music.

The recording of “Cell-0” followed a four-year break between albums that gave the band - Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, Paavo Lotjonen, and Mikko Siren, all of whom are classically-trained musicians - a fresh perspective and affected the way they approached the new music.

Giancarlo Erra to release debut solo album “Ends” on April 12th 2019

On his debut solo album “Ends”, Giancarlo Erra ably demonstrates a masterful gift for producing timelessly intimate and profoundly affecting music.

Comprising a suite of eight thematically linked instrumentals, “Ends” deploys sparse piano patterns, synth textures, eerily beautiful string quartet performances, and subtle electronic pulses to create a compelling whole that establishes Erra as a composer of rare sensitivity and singular purpose.

Tone Masseve to release new album “Amp L’étude” on September 12th 2018

The singing sustain of multiple razor edged electric guitars, the monster rock backbeat of Jethro Tull drummer Doane Perry and The Moonlight Sonata? Yes, This mash-up is the concept behind Tone Masseve’s album “Amp L’étude”. Classical pieces? Yes, but these are not the dry, conventional versions we've all heard before. The album vividly brings these compositions to life with a new and powerful sound.
